About Sarkodie
Michael Owusu Addo, known professionally as Sarkodie, is a Ghanaian rapper, entrepreneur, and one of the most decorated artists in African music history. Born on July 10, 1988, in Tema, Ghana, he began rapping at an early age and developed his craft through the Tema community rap scene.
Sarkodie is widely credited with transforming and internationalising Ghanaian hiplife music. His rapid-fire delivery, sharp wordplay, and ability to switch effortlessly between English, Twi, and Pidgin English set him apart as a lyrical giant. His 2013 BET Hip Hop Award for Best International Flow cemented his status on the global stage.
With multiple VGMA awards, a Grammy consideration, and collaborations with international artists including Keri Hilson, Yung Berg, and EL, Sarkodie\'s discography spans over a decade of chart-topping music. His albums — including "Rapperholic", "Highest", and "No Pressure" — have all been critically acclaimed.
Beyond music, Sarkodie runs the Obidi Foundation, supporting underprivileged youth through education and creative arts. He is also a MUSIGA advocate for intellectual property rights and fair royalties for Ghanaian artists.
