Fair Pay for
Ghanaian Musicians
No Ghanaian musician should work for free, be underpaid below industry minimums, or have booking fees stolen by unscrupulous agents. We're changing that.
The Problem
Every week, Ghanaian musicians are asked to perform for "exposure", accept well below market rate for their talent, or see large portions of their fee taken as undisclosed "management fees". This is exploitation — and it is widespread.
MUSIGA has documented cases where event promoters charged corporate clients GH₵15,000 for a performance but paid the musician GH₵500. Without enforceable minimum rates and transparent booking agreements, this will continue.
Our Campaign Demands
Legally enforceable MUSIGA minimum rates for all live performances
Transparent itemised contracts for every engagement
A maximum 15% booking agent commission, clearly disclosed
Payment within 48 hours of performance — no "pay after promotion profits" arrangements
A MUSIGA Fair Pay certification mark for venues and promoters that comply
signatures collected
57% of 5,000 target
Latest Win
Ghana Tourism Authority agreed to include MUSIGA rate schedules in all publicly-funded event contracts from March 2025.
