Your Complete Welfare
& Benefits Package
MUSIGA stands behind every musician with comprehensive welfare grants, SIC Insurance group cover, and SSNIT pension enrolment — because your wellbeing is our highest priority.
Member benefit
Life insurance
MUSIGA provides group life insurance cover for all active members in good standing. In the event of a member's death, a lump-sum benefit is paid to nominated next-of-kin, helping families manage immediate financial needs during a difficult time.
Eligibility
All paid-up MUSIGA members are automatically enrolled in the group life cover upon membership approval.
Benefit payout
A lump-sum death benefit is paid to your nominated next-of-kin within 30 days of a verified claim.
How to claim
Next-of-kin should contact the MUSIGA Welfare Office with a death certificate and membership details to initiate a claim.
Retirement planning
Pension scheme
MUSIGA operates a pension scheme in partnership with MTN to help musicians plan for retirement. The scheme is compliant with the National Pensions Act (Act 766) and covers Tier 2 and Tier 3 contributions for self-employed musicians.
Tier 2 & 3
MUSIGA helps members set up and manage Tier 2 and Tier 3 pension contributions under the National Pensions Act 2008.
MTN integration
Contributions can be made via MTN MoMo *170# — convenient, reliable, and tracked via your MyMUSIGA portal.
Your future
Start small and grow your pension fund over time. MUSIGA advisors can help you choose the right contribution level.
Health coverage
National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)
MUSIGA assists members in registering and maintaining their National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) coverage. As self-employed workers, many musicians are unaware of their NHIS entitlements — MUSIGA bridges that gap through registration drives and awareness campaigns.
NHIS registration
MUSIGA organises group NHIS registration drives for members. Bring your Ghana Card and membership ID to any regional branch.
What is covered
NHIS covers outpatient services, inpatient care, maternity services, oral health, and emergency care at accredited facilities.
Group drives
MUSIGA regional branches hold regular NHIS registration days. Contact your regional office to find the next drive near you.
Elderly care
Aged Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWeF)
The Aged Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWeF) is a dedicated fund for MUSIGA members aged 60 and above who are no longer able to actively perform or work. AMWeF provides monthly stipends, emergency medical support, and access to care for Ghana's musical legends and veteran artists.
Who qualifies
MUSIGA members aged 60+ who have been in good standing for at least 10 years and are no longer actively performing due to age or health.
Monthly stipend
Qualifying members receive a monthly stipend to help cover living costs, disbursed via mobile money or bank transfer on the first of each month.
Medical support
Emergency medical grants are available to AMWeF beneficiaries to cover hospital bills, medication, and care costs not covered by NHIS.
To apply for AMWeF support, contact the MUSIGA Welfare Office at welfare@musiga.org or visit your nearest regional branch with proof of age and membership history.
Welfare Fund
MUSIGA Welfare Fund
Established in 1981 alongside MUSIGA itself, the Welfare Fund was created in recognition that musicians — like all workers — face moments of crisis, illness, and hardship. Over four decades the Fund has quietly supported thousands of Ghanaian musicians through medical emergencies, bereavements, instrument loss, and old-age care. Applications are reviewed weekly by a dedicated Welfare Committee and funds disbursed within 72 hours of approval via mobile money or bank transfer.
