National Capacity Building Workshop 2024

MUSIGA held a 4-day National Capacity Building Workshop at the Erata Hotel in Accra, themed "Developing African Musician Unions." The event brought together members of the National Executive Council (national executives plus all regional chairpersons and secretaries).

Facilitated by Thomas Dayan (Deputy General Secretary, FIM, France) and Jonas Franzen (Swedish Musicians Federation), with sponsorship from Union-to-Union, the workshop covered:
• Communication skills between national and regional leadership
• Mainstreaming gender within the union
• Financial management and safeguards policy
• Contractual agreement templates for members
• Minimum wages and collective bargaining agreements (CBA)
• The 2024–2025 administrative roadmap

MUSIGA President Bessa Simons stated: "This capacity-building initiative is a significant step towards empowering our union leaders with the knowledge and tools they need to drive positive change in the music industry. We are committed to fostering a more inclusive and financially robust environment for musicians in Ghana and beyond."
